Well, dear curious one, the SAIL Leadership Program is a transformative journey for working moms and women designed by Tara Furiani, a 13-year CPO, NASA DEI Board Member, and host of Not the HR Lady. You get to be a part of a 6-week coaching session, including individual and group sessions, eLearning, and a lot of networking opportunities. Plus, we cap it all off with an all-inclusive voyage aboard Virgin Voyages in Miami. Exciting, isn’t it?
2. Who can join the SAIL Leadership Program?
Excellent question! Our program is specifically designed for working moms and women.
3. What's included in the program fee?
Ah, the million-dollar question (or should I say, the $4,500 question?). For your investment, you'll get a whole lot of bang for your buck. We're talking about 6 weeks of coaching, eLearning content, a personal navigator (workbook), swag bags, a private network of supportive working women, a copy of the SAIL Leadership Book, and let's not forget, an all-inclusive voyage on Virgin Voyages with perks galore - fine dining, essential drinks, entertainment, and did I mention premium WiFi? Plus, you can bring along your emotional support person, no extra charge. Think of it as a professional development bundle sprinkled with the magic of a luxury cruise.
4. How does the program work with my current job?
Balancing work, life, and a leadership program might sound like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle, but trust me, it's way easier (and less dangerous). The program is designed to weave into your daily life seamlessly, and thanks to our partnership with Virgin Voyages, you get premium WiFi. So if you have a flexible work arrangement, you might not even need to take time off. Also, many companies offer learning stipends or tuition assistance, which could potentially cover the cost of our program. So, get juggling, my friend!
5. Will I get seasick on the Virgin Cruise?
Seasickness, the sneaky little devil. But don't worry, modern cruise ships are designed with stabilizers to minimize that rocky feeling. Plus, there are remedies available onboard to combat any queasiness. So, rest easy and focus on SAIL-ing.
6. How can I make the most of the networking opportunities during the program?
I see a future networker in you! Making the most of networking is all about being open and authentic. Share your experiences, learn from others, and always, always be your wonderful self. Remember, some of the most meaningful connections are forged over casual conversations - and maybe a glass of wine or two.
7. What if I've never been on a cruise before?
First time, huh? That's fantastic! There's nothing like your first time sailing, especially when it's on a mega-yacht-like Virgin Voyage. The ship is designed for comfort and luxury, and the crew will make sure you feel at home. Just imagine the sea breeze, the spectacular views, and the unique atmosphere of learning and growing while sailing the high seas. It’s going to be a voyage to remember.
8. Can I bring my emotional support person?
Absolutely, you can. We understand the importance of emotional support in this journey. That's why you can bring your emotional support person along at no extra cost. Now, that's a plus one with added benefits!
9. What should I pack for the cruise?
Great question, because packing for a cruise is somewhat of an art! Virgin Voyages have unique events like the PJ party, Scarlet Night, 80's aerobics, and 70's disco that you may want to gear up for. But above all, comfort and your own personal style are key. You'll see many dressed up and many not so much, but no one cares because they're doing them. There's no formal night, so pack what makes you feel fabulous.
10. Any additional perks with our Virgin Voyages partnership?
Perks galore, my friend! Not only do you get the all-inclusive luxury of a Virgin Voyage, but we also provide onboard bar tabs ($300 to spend on coffee, smoothies, cocktails, wine, and beer) as well as $100 of loot to be used on anything from gambling in the casino to the onboard tattoo parlor, spa services, and shore excursions. Plus, we've curated exclusive events designed just for our SAIL members and their guests.
11. Are flights or transportation to Miami included in the price?
Ah, the nuts and bolts of travel. Flights or transportation to/from Miami aren't included in the price for the attendee or their guest. But don't fret, we're here to guide you through the process and make it as smooth as possible.
12. Can guests attend the on-board workshops?
We love the enthusiasm, but to maintain trust and privacy among our SAIL members, guests aren't permitted at our on-board workshops. The transformation journey is an intimate one, after all. But, there will be opportunities to gather together, if you choose.
13. Are we allowed to bring wine onboard?
I see a connoisseur here! Us too! Yes, you're allowed to bring on 2 bottles of wine per cabin. After all, a good voyage deserves a good toast (let us know if you want us to bring you one of our Texas favorites... Spicewood Vineyards).
14. Who handles the other on-board expenses?
All other on-board expenses belong to the guest and their plus one, except where expressly told. But remember, you've got that onboard bar tab and loot to spend, and Virgin includes just about all you'll need. There's little "nickle and diming", but there is on-board tattoos, a spa, a casino and speciality events you may want to enjoy.
15. Can we post photos of other attendees during the voyage?
In the age of oversharing, this is an excellent question. Please do have permission to post photos of other attendees during the voyage. We value privacy as much as we value a good selfie.
16. What kind of transformation can I expect from the SAIL program?
The transformation that awaits you in the SAIL program is profound, and unique to each individual. It's a journey of self-discovery, improved leadership skills, personal growth, and enhanced understanding of your own capabilities. You'll leave with a set of tools to navigate your life and career more effectively. And often, our attendees leave with new lifelong friends – an added bonus!
17. When should we arrive in Miami?
We suggest you arrive the night before the cruise kicks off, although prior night stays aren't included in the program cost. There's so much to see and do in vibrant Miami. Even though we're regular visitors, we never tire of exploring the city.
18. Do you really rap at the Karaoke night? I heard you and Justin were good...
Oh, the rumors you hear! And yes, they are all true. We do rap at the Karaoke night, and let's just say our renditions of 'Forgot About Dre,' 'In the End,' 'Regulate,' 'California Love,' and more will have you up on your feet.
19. Can I upgrade my cabin to a Rockstar or MegaRock Star suite?
Absolutely! Upgrading your cabin is always an option. But do inquire about the additional costs and perks that come with these fabulous upgrades.
20. What if I want to do it again?
We love a good repeat! We'll be announcing the next round of cohorts in a few months. These will offer a 'next level' to SAIL, building on your prior learning, network, and trust connections. Plenty of advance notice will be given so you can plan to travel with your original group, if you desire.
21. Can we work from the ship?
Yes, indeed! Premium wifi is included, so if you're able to work flexibly, you may not even need to request time off for the cruise. Now that's what we call work-life harmony!
22. Can my company pay for the cost of the SAIL Leadership Program?
It's possible! The program is coded as SAIL Leadership, not Virgin Voyages, so if your company offers tuition assistance or an ongoing learning stipend, we are eligible. And if they don't currently, it's worth asking if they can invest in your development in this way.
23 What do I tell my boss about this program?
Great question! The SAIL Leadership program is an investment in your professional growth. Make sure to emphasize the leadership development, network expansion, and the innovative learning environment. Mention the fact that many companies allow tuition assistance or ongoing learning stipends for such programs. And don't forget the practical bit: premium wifi is included, so you might not even need to take time off. Need a letter? We can help.
24. How do I sell this to my spouse?
Let's talk about the benefits. You're investing in personal growth, self-care, and your career. Plus, with SAIL, you can bring your emotional support person along at no extra cost. What's not to love?
25. I have kids, but I want to come. Is this possible?
Absolutely. The SAIL program is designed with working moms in mind. Although the ship is kid-free, this could be a perfect opportunity for a little 'me' time, something all moms deserve.
26. I want to come alone. Is that okay?
Of course! Come as you are, and feel free to use this voyage as a chance to connect with yourself and meet new friends (there's no discount for single sailors, though).
27. How can I work with you and learn even more about this kind of work?
We're always excited to nurture eager minds. Reach out to us and let's explore opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, or extended learning.
28. Can I buy the SAIL Leadership books in stores?
Yes, you can! The SAIL Leadership books are available in major bookstores and online platforms.
29. I want to get sponsorship information.
Fantastic! We'd be happy to provide you with more details about our sponsorship opportunities. Reach out and we'll chat.
30. Do you have a SAIL podcast?
Yes, we do have a SAIL podcast, but it's exclusively for our members. As a member, you also have access to our daily morning, mid-day, and evening meditations, along with mantras and so very much more.
31. I loved my Virgin Voyage and want to book another one, separate from SAIL. Can you help?
Absolutely! We'd be thrilled to assist you with booking through our boutique travel agency & blog, Workcations by NTHRL. We can provide many of the same perks you received on your SAIL journey.
32. How do I talk to my kids about being gone?
This is a personal conversation and depends on your family dynamics. But, it's important to explain that this time away is not only for your personal and professional growth, but it will also benefit them as you'll come back a stronger leader, and potentially, a more fulfilled individual.
33. Can I tell others about this?
Absolutely, we'd love for you to share your experiences and the transformation you're undergoing with SAIL. The more people who know about the program, the more lives we can touch.
34. Why SAIL Leadership and not Dale Carnegie, Landmark, Franklin Covey, Disney or other coaching programs?
Let's acknowledge that those programs have their merits. In fact, as the creator of SAIL Leadership, I've been trained in each of them and even use elements of those methodologies in our program. But, here's where we differ: SAIL is specifically tailored for working parents, the LGBTQ+ community and women. We understand the unique challenges you face, and our program reflects that understanding.
Secondly, consider the cost-value ratio. While the programs you mentioned are indeed reputable, they come with a significant price tag and usually don't include a week-long, all-inclusive cruise. With SAIL, you get not just the transformative leadership program but also an unforgettable experience on Virgin Voyages.
On top of that, SAIL Leadership offers eLearning content, weekly group coaching, and weekly 1:1 coaching sessions. You get a personal navigator (workbook) as we work through the program and a personal navigator for continuing with the methodology and transformation at the conclusion.
Moreover, you get access to an exclusive network of likeminded professional women and moms, committed to the same journey as you are. We also provide additional resources like resume and interview prep, mental health resources, thought leadership, and exclusive events. All these perks, combined with the enriching experience of the voyage, sets SAIL Leadership apart.
Ultimately, SAIL is not just another coaching program, it's a transformative journey that combines learning, growth, and self-care in a unique, fun, and supportive environment.
35. Do I really get to bring a plus one?
Yes, absolutely! We understand the value of having a supportive presence during such transformative experiences. You're welcome to bring an emotional support person along on the cruise at no additional program cost. Just bear in mind that their expenses and travel are not covered within the program cost.
36. Can this be anyone?
Yes, indeed! Your plus one can be anyone over 18 that you would like to share this experience with. It could be your mom, sister, brother, best friend, husband, wife, partner... whomever you feel comfortable with. However, if you want to embark on this journey alone to focus on yourself, that's perfectly fine too! Your SAIL journey is all about what feels right for you.
